LOVE AND A TASTE OF L.A.

On February 14, my boyfriend surprised me with flowers and took me to IL Ponticello Cafe Ristorante for dinner. He knows that I love their Ravioli D’ Agnello, so I was a happy little kid! It was a perfect Valentine’s date and I couldn’t ask for more.

The next day, we were talking on the phone and he started telling me stories about what our other friends did for Valentine’s Day. In the middle of laughs and “aww”, it hit me. The biggest reality slap, ever! What did I do for my man on this day? Yeah, none?! Thinking how Valentine’s Day is already pressure enough for men, add into the mix women’s expectations, and not to mention the bills they have to burn; it’s remarkable how men deal with all of that, whilst looking all sexy and charming. Oh, I truly felt terrible! I stopped our conversation and told him to keep his Friday open for me.

Come Friday. When my boyfriend got home from work, I handed him a bottle of truffles with a note asking him to be my Valentine’s date. I dubbed it, message in a truffle bottle (haha). For dinner, I took him to A Taste of L.A., hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Tomas Morato. What we ordered:

French Onion Soup

(Baked with a crust of emmantel and gruyere cheese)

Salmon Belly Fries with citron-pepper dip

Wrap ‘N’ Roll Chayo

(Vietnamese crab and mushroom spring rolls with various skins and leaves for wrapping)— my personal favorite ;)

Garlic Lamb Pizza

(Black olives, mushrooms, creamy feta, rosemary and mint leaves)

The place has a warm, cozy, romantic feeling. The food is sumptuous and cooked to perfection. I also love the excellent customer service. I highly HIGHLY recommend this place!

After dinner, I brought him to Royal Siam Spa for couples massage. He’s been working his ass off, and I thought he really deserves to relax. Last stop, we visited our good friend ONE3D and had a couple of beers at his place.

On our way home, I felt so good because I made my man happy. I mean, cmon? Men need to feel loved too! This is definitely a nice way to appreciate our partners. My way of saying thank you to my boyfriend. As they say, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

Hi Babe, thank you for your patience, understanding and loyalty. This one’s for you:
